Customized diet, kimchi, and mobile living unit with hydroponic garden, urinal, urine processor, bed, and kitchen.
In April 2006 I sent my urine to a floriculture lab to determine the availability of plant nutrients in my urine. I designed and followed a customized vegan diet* designed to transform my urine into a more ideal nutrient solution for plants. I built a customized, mobile urine recycling system which contained a urinal, urine processor, foam bed, kitchen, and hydroponic napa cabbage garden. I urinated, bio-processed (with nitrosomas bacteria) and sterilized my urine, grew napa cabbages hydroponically with the urine, made kimchi from the napa cabbage, and served the kimchi to the public.
*For the curious, although my impossibly stringent diet was chock-full of nutrients (due to sacrificing all the good things — taste, texture, and fat), it lacked enough magnesium, calcium, and iron for optimal plant nutrition.
